Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Benzoil Pty Ltd (ABN 87 169 442 442) ("Benzoil", "we", "us") handles personal information collected through Benzoil Discover, the mobile feed at feed.benzoil.com.au. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The main website, benzoil.com.au, has its own privacy policy which applies to that site.

What we collect

Enquiry details you choose to send us: your message, name, phone number, email address and company. Alongside an enquiry we record which card you were reading, its topic, how far you had scrolled and the page address, so we can respond in context and understand which content is useful.

Usage information collected automatically: the pages and cards you view, taps on call, email, share and enquiry buttons, your device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and referral source. This is collected through Google Tag Manager and the analytics tags Benzoil configures in it.

Local device storage: the feed remembers, on your device only, which cards you have already seen and how you answered polls so the feed can show you fresh material. This information never leaves your device and you can clear it by clearing your browser's site data.

Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry, quote request or collection booking.
To manage our relationship with you if you become a customer or supplier.
To understand how the feed is used and improve its content.
To detect and prevent abuse of the enquiry form.

We do not send marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them. Any marketing email we send will include a way to unsubscribe, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Who we share it with

Enquiries are delivered to Benzoil staff through our customer relationship management and email systems, which may be hosted by service providers outside Australia. Usage information is processed by our analytics providers. We only disclose personal information where you would reasonably expect it, where you have agreed, or where the law requires or permits it. We do not sell personal information.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections and access controls. Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to respond to you and to meet our legal and business obligations, then deleted or de-identified.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@benzoil.com.au or writing to PO Box 588, Mooloolaba, Queensland 4557. If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
